Terms of service
The rules for using Carolina Camper Vans. They are short because the service is: sellers publish camper vans, buyers find them, and the two of you do the rest.
The part worth reading twice is that we are a venue and not a party to any sale. We do not inspect the vans, we do not verify the titles, and we do not hold the money.
Written in-house, not by a lawyer. This page describes how the site actually works today. Carolina Camper Vans should have an attorney review it before relying on it.

The short version
This is a summary for convenience. The sections after it are the actual terms, and where the two seem to disagree, the sections win.
- We run a listing board. We are not the seller, the buyer, a dealer, a broker or an escrow agent, and we are not a party to any sale that happens because of this site.
- Sellers pay $39 once to publish a listing. Buyers pay nothing. We never take a commission on a sale price.
- We do not inspect, verify or appraise any van. Everything you read in a listing was typed by the seller.
- If a deal goes wrong, it is between you and the other person. We hold no money, so there is nothing for us to refund or release.
Using the site means you accept these terms. If you publish a listing, you also ticked a box at checkout saying so.
Who can use the site, and accounts
You need to be 18 or older to publish a listing or send an inquiry. We do not check your age, so treat that as a rule rather than a gate.
Browsing needs no account. Publishing a listing does, and sign-in is Google only. There is no password to create here and none for us to lose, which also means your access to this site is exactly as secure as your Google account. Keep it that way.
What happens under your account is yours: the listings published, the details entered, the fee paid. If you share the Google account, you are sharing this one.
We can take a listing down. We do not have a self-service way to close an account yet, so if you want yours gone, email hello@carolinacampervans.com and a person will do it by hand. See the privacy policy for what that removes.
What we are, and what we are not
Carolina Camper Vans is a place to publish a camper van for sale and a place to find one. That is the whole service. Sellers write the listings. Buyers read them and get in touch. We collect a fee for publishing, and then we stay out of the way.
We do not inspect, verify, appraise or road test any vehicle listed on this site, and we do not check any document. Nobody from Carolina Camper Vans has seen the van you are looking at unless the listing says otherwise, and no listing says otherwise.
Title status is whichever option the seller selected in the listing form. We do not check it against a title, a lien record, or a vehicle history report. The same goes for mileage, ownership, build quality, and every other claim in a listing.
Specifically, we are not:
- a party to any sale, or to any agreement you reach with another user;
- a dealer, a broker, an agent, or anybody's representative in a transaction;
- an escrow agent. We never hold the purchase price, or any part of it. The only money we ever take is the listing fee, paid by the seller, to us.
- an adviser. We do not value vans, recommend sellers, or tell you whether to buy. The site sorts and displays what sellers wrote.
If you list a van
You have to actually be able to sell it
You own the van, or you have the legal right to sell it on behalf of whoever does. If there is a lien on it, that is yours to deal with, and you should say so in the listing rather than at the handshake.
The listing has to be true
Year, make, model, mileage, price, condition, location, features, and the VIN if you enter one: all of it has to be accurate when you publish and accurate while it stays up. If something changes, change the listing.
We are strictest about two fields. The odometer reading and the title status are the two things a buyer cannot easily check from a screen, and they are the two we will remove a listing over. The title status you select is published as a statement of fact with your name next to it. If you are not certain what your title says, go and read it before you pick.
If you enter a VIN, it is printed on the public listing page so buyers can run it. That is deliberate. Leave it out if you would rather not publish it.
Photos and words
Photos have to be of the van you are selling, and yours to publish. You keep ownership of your photos and your text. By publishing a listing you give us permission to store, resize, and display them on this site, including through the image service that delivers them, for as long as the listing is up and while we keep the archived record of it. That permission covers running the site and promoting your listing on it, such as the home page placement that comes with the Featured upgrade. It does not extend to anything else.
Housekeeping
- One van per listing.
- Buyer inquiries arrive in your seller dashboard rather than in your inbox, so check it. We have not built email notifications yet.
- When the van sells, mark it sold. Leaving a sold van live wastes buyers' time, and we will mark it ourselves if we find out.
- Your display name or business name, whether you are a private seller, dealer or builder, your city and state, and the month you joined are shown publicly. Your email address and phone number are not published on the listing page.
The listing fee
$39, once, per listing. The optional Featured upgrade is a further $20, bought at the same time, which pins your van to the top of the home page and search results for as long as it is listed.
Buyers pay nothing, ever. There is no commission on the sale price, no monthly charge to stay visible, and no fee to relist, because there is nothing to relist.
You pay by card on our checkout page, through Stripe. Payment and publication are the same moment: when the charge succeeds, the listing goes live.
The fee is not refundable once the listing is published. That includes a listing you take down an hour later, a van that sells the same day, a van that does not sell at all, and a listing we remove for breaking these terms.
If a charge itself is wrong, that we can fix. Email hello@carolinacampervans.com with the date and amount and we will look at it.
Promo codes
A promo code changes the price of one listing, at checkout, and only if it is valid at that moment. Codes can be limited by how many times they are used in total, by one use per seller, and by a start and end date, and some apply to the listing fee only rather than to the Featured upgrade as well. We record which code was used on which listing. A code cannot be applied after you have paid.
Prices can change. The price shown on the checkout page is the price you are charged, and a change never applies to a listing already published.
How long a listing runs, and when we take one down
A published listing stays live until the seller marks it sold or archives it. There is no expiry date, no two-week clock, and no renewal. You can archive a listing and bring it back from your dashboard.
We may unpublish or remove a listing, without notice, if it:
- breaks anything in these terms;
- is not a camper van or a van being converted into one;
- looks fraudulent, or looks like a vehicle the seller is not entitled to sell;
- duplicates another live listing for the same van;
- is the subject of a credible claim from someone else, about ownership or about photos and text that are theirs; or
- has to come down for us to comply with the law.
We will tell you why if you ask. Removing a listing does not return the fee, and we may keep our record of the listing and the payment afterwards.
What you may not post or do
- List a vehicle you do not own and are not authorized to sell.
- List something that is not a camper van or a van being converted into one.
- State anything false or misleading, including mileage, title status, VIN, price, ownership, or who built the conversion.
- Publish someone else's photos, text, logos or trademarks as your own.
- Publish anybody else's personal information.
- Steer a buyer or seller to a fake escrow service, a fake shipping company, or any other arrangement designed to take their money.
- Use the site for anything illegal, or to harass, threaten or abuse another person.
- Scrape the site, hammer it with automated requests, or try to get at parts of it that are not yours, including other people's listings, inquiries or accounts.
- Harvest seller or buyer contact details for marketing, or send unsolicited pitches to people you found here.
- Use an inquiry form for anything other than asking about that van.
If you see any of this, tell us at hello@carolinacampervans.com. Point us at the listing and say what is wrong with it.
If you are buying
The site is free for buyers. You do not need an account to browse or to contact a seller.
You are buying from the seller, not from us. Any agreement, any bill of sale, any deposit and any promise about the van is between the two of you.
We perform no inspection and no verification of any kind. A listing appearing here means a seller paid to publish it. It does not mean we checked it, met them, or looked at the van.
Before money moves, do your own work. At a minimum:
- Run the VIN yourself, through a history report you paid for.
- Have a mechanic who understands conversions look at it. A camper van is a vehicle and a small building, and most shops only know one of those.
- Read the title in person, in your hand, and confirm the name on it matches the person selling. If there is a lien, confirm it is released.
- Drive it. Up a grade, at highway speed, with everything switched on.
- Meet in person. Do not wire money to somebody you have not met, and do not use an escrow or shipping service that the seller introduced.
Everything a seller tells you, in the listing or in a reply, is the seller's statement. It is not ours, and we do not adopt it by hosting it.
One practical note about privacy: sending an inquiry gives that seller your name, email address and phone number. The privacy policy spells out exactly what is shared.
Disputes between buyers and sellers
They are yours. A disagreement about a van, a deposit, a repair, a promise, a no-show or a deal that fell apart is between the buyer and the seller.
We are not a mediator, an arbitrator, or an escrow agent, and we hold none of your money. There is nothing for us to release, reverse or refund, and we are not going to decide who is right.
What we will do is look at a listing you report. If it breaks these terms we will take it down, and if it looks like fraud we will take it down quickly. We cannot get your money back.
The one thing that is genuinely ours to fix is a charge we made. See the listing fee.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is and as it happens to be available. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, timely, error free, or that any listing on it is accurate, complete, current or lawful.
We make no warranty of any kind about any vehicle, any seller, or any buyer. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Nothing on this site is a warranty on a vehicle. Any warranty on a van comes from the seller, in writing, or it does not exist.
The limit on what we owe you
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for everything connected with this site is capped at the total amount you have actually paid us. For a buyer that is zero. For a seller it is the listing fee, plus the Featured upgrade if you bought it.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages, for lost profits or lost opportunities, or for the cost of a vehicle, a repair, a tow, a trip, or a deal that did not happen.
Some states do not allow every one of these limits. Where that is the case, the limit applies as far as the law allows and no further.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute between you and us goes to the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and we both agree to those courts.
There is no arbitration clause here, and no class action waiver. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. Using the site after that means the current version is the one that applies to you.
We do not keep an archive of previous versions today, so if you want a copy of the wording on the day you published a listing, save one.
