About Table Rock State Park
Table Rock is the mountain everyone in the Upstate can name — a broad granite face tilted against the sky at the edge of the Blue Ridge Escarpment, with a trail that climbs its shoulder to the top. Pinnacle Mountain next door is the highest point entirely within South Carolina, and the two summits make a long, steep day from the same trailhead. The park is one of the finest surviving Civilian Conservation Corps landscapes in the Southeast: a stone lodge above a lake, log cabins and rockwork built in the 1930s and still in use. The escarpment rises more than two thousand feet here in a few miles, so the weather at the top is a different proposition from the parking lot.

Getting a van in and out
Paved access from SC 11, the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway, which is a pleasant drive in its own right and easy in any build. The campground is a developed state park loop. Pickens and Travelers Rest cover supplies, and Greenville is under an hour. The trails are genuinely strenuous with sustained rock steps — this is not a stroll — and the summit trailhead parking fills early on autumn weekends.
